Parish and Town Councils are legally bound under the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 to have access to a named Competent Person to be able to offer Health & Safety advice and compliant solutions.

• Writing a fully comprehensive report that clearly identifies concerns and an action plan to address any deficiencies etc.

• Providing health and safety agenda topics to be covered in council meetings and review upcoming agenda items to identify potential health and safety risks/compliance issues

• Ensuring systems are in place for the safety of all people working at or visiting council run venues/premises

• Ensuring compliance under CDM regulations

• Assisting with contractor compliance

• Providing support to safely run council organised events

• Advising on staff inductions and training

• Providing immediate support and advice should a serious incident or accident occur

• Providing support in case of a HSE investigation

• Sharing best practice from our experience of working with other councils

• Providing and reviewing a compliance check list diary and renewal reminders for key documents
